W’Menswear was founded by Lauren Yates in 2015, born out of a desire to produce high quality, heritage-inspired garments for women – with a nuanced and ever-evolving perspective on femininity at the intersections of fashion, workwear, military garments, and history. Originally operating out of a converting shipping container in Bangkok, the brand has grown substantially with each new collection, employing specialty and custom fabrics as well as partnering with local workshops & artisans.
The Bowl Tee is a relaxed pocket tee inspired by Peggy Oki, the only female skater active on the Zephyr Competition Team (aka the “Z-Boys”) during the 1970s. Cut with an oversized body, the torso is almost cropped, draping below the waist, but not very far — keeping the fit boxy rather than just big. It’s finished with a thick knit collar and single chest pocket, as well as single-needle stitching along the sleeves and hem, a subtle detail that signals the artisanal production of these tees.
It’s made from a super soft 100% American cotton knit that clocks in at a comfortable medium weight. Pleasantly dense, it’s got just enough structure without being stiff — draping easily but still holding a general t-shape. Initially quite plush, it will continue to soften with time as the knit relaxes further.
